Age and infirmity are not barriers to good health through exercise

Our bodies are designed to move and move in a variety of ways. Problems occur of course when we feel we don't have the time, the physical capability or feel we may be too old or infirm to exercise.

Let me dispel all three statements:

Time: Have you noticed we all make time to do what we want to do. You don't have to "exercise" to benefit from physical movement. Gardening, housework, playing with the kids, kids who "play with their friends", those who go dancing or walk the dog are all gaining the benefit of exercise without having to find time to exercise.

Physical capability: There are people who take up sport AFTER they have been injured. After every Olympic games / World event there is a second event for the disabled athletes. They are proof positive that injury and disability are no barriers to exercising.

Age: Even those people who may be considered old and frail can benefit from physical exercise. There are numerous reports of nursing homes and hospitals buying the Playstation Wii Fit for their patients / patrons to use. And what better challenge can there be, but to beat your neighbour especially after they've been bragging how good they are.

If you are using these three excuses as a way to explain why you are not exercising, now is the time to stop. Anyone and everyone can do some form of exercise to benefit their health. The point shouldn't be - whether to or not, but what do you try first.
