Using stimulants to increase energy levels
There is a large number of easily available "energy" drinks on the market today. While they may not contain excessive numbers of calories, these energy drinks combine a number of ingredients that together can boost energy levels artificially.
Energy drink - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Generally energy drinks include methylxanthines (including caffeine), vitamin B and herbs. Other common ingredients are guarana, acai, and taurine, plus various forms of ginseng, maltodextrin, carbonated water, inositol, carnitine, creatine, glucuronolactone and ginkgo biloba. Some contain high levels of sugar, and many brands also offer artificially-sweetened 'diet' versions. The central ingredient in most energy drinks is caffeine, the same stimulant found in coffee or tea, often in the form of guarana or yerba mate.
As far as we know, these energy drinks are not limited to adult consumption, but children and teenagers are buying and consuming these drinks as well.
For anyone who has suffered from excess caffeine consumption can show, whilst you may get a "high" there are also a number of side effects, once of which has been proven to be "death" - a case of "buyer beware" perhaps.
