Increase energy levels: Start your day with a walk
How can burning energy give you energy - it sounds like a misnomer doesn't it.
Unless you are not taking in enough calories to sustain your metabolism, chances are going to be good you have enough fuel in the tank to get out and go for a walk before you start your day. I know it works for me and a number of clients who use the technique.
- It gives you a reason to get up
- If you lay your clothes out the night before you can just get up, visit the loo, pull on your clothes, shoes and grab your keys and be out of the door before your brain wakes up. And by the time it has - it's too late and you should be getting the endorphin rush starting to kick in.
- The endorphins give you a certain glow
- You can gloat because you've done your exercise already and don't have to worry about fitting it into later on in the day, when everyone else is struggling with motivation to get to the gym.
- Walking improves not only your cardiovascular system, but does help to keep the weight down and the body toned - so what other incentives do you need really?
- You tend to breathe more deeply - this extra oxygen helps to clean out the stale air trapped in your lungs...And if you don't believe how good this simple exercise is. Breathe in to the count of 8, hold then release the breathe to the count of 8, if that's too easy go to 10's. Repeat 5 times and see how much more energised it makes you feel.
- You have to drink more water to remain hydrated. Water, like oxygen are the 2 main components of life - the extra water helps to flush the rubbish out of your system which has got to be a good thing too.
