Use it to lose it
I wish there was a way to lose fat from specific areas but I'm afraid there isn't (other than resorting to liposuction that is).
Our bodies are a complex mass and everything we eat, drink and do plays a part in what we look like, how much we weigh and what our fat to lean body mass is.
Sorry.
Really though there are ways to lose weight (not necessarily lose fat), there are numerous ways to get fit and depending on what you want to get fit for will depend to a certain degree on your training.
Someone I know spent six months training with a weighted back pack, running up and down jacobs ladder and the kokoda track while breathing through a straw (wearing a nose clip - you know the sort swimmers wear) to simulate walking at altitude. He was attempting to climb Kilimanjaro late last year. Did you know, the guides take your blood pressure every evening when you reach camp - and if your resting heart rate is above the recommended guidelines - that's it, attempt over. He made it. The training he did meant he was definitely fit for purpose - and that purpose was to reach the highest point in Africa. Good on you Andy.
He also managed to whittle his fat stores down quite dramatically during the training and climb.
But what of the rest of us?
Well - the best way I know to lose fat is to move more and make sure my diet supports my decision to cut body fat.
And no you don't have to run like Andy did, I find one of the best ways to move is by walking. And it has many other benefits too. But more of that another time.
How about you? Are you willing to use it to lose it?
