Well a sensible eating plan should form part of your overall strategy in eliminating love handles, but do you have to "diet"? Well no, not if you don't want to. But if you consume more calories than your body needs it will store them as excess fat, and if you are prone to love handles, muffin tops and beer belly's - then you might want to reconsider.
What you do need to do is create a deficit of around 3,500 calories to reduce 1 kilogram of body fat. This can be done through exercise, but you might like to keep an eye on what you are consuming as there may be empty calories you can get rid of and speed up the process.
As much as I hate to repeat myself - but the best way to target the entire body is through sensible eating and an exercise plan that works for you. Maybe you should try an exercise you used to enjoy doing as a child / teen - play some kind of team sport, get the tennis racket out or whatever you used to do to rekindle your interest in exercise - the benefits are enormous.

I'm not a great fan of exercise, I mean I do it, but I'm not keen on spending hours in the gym if I can get rid of them another way. So can i get rid of the love handles through dieting?
